PeaceHealth to acquire retail & digital care provider Zoom+Care

  • The Portland-based ZOOM+Care, with its 37 clinics located in the Northwest, would be retaining the company name following the acquisition.

  • The move comes under PeaceHealth’s ongoing effort to be able to cater to patients in a changing healthcare landscape.

PeaceHealth, a renowned non-profit healthcare organization, operating inside the western U.S., has reportedly announced the acquisition of Portland-based on-demand retail & digital care provider, ZOOM+Care.

Reports cite, the company made the acquisition under its ongoing effort to be able to cater to more patients in a changing healthcare landscape which includes the way younger populace would access healthcare.

According to a press release by PeaceHealth, under the acquisition’s terms of agreement, ZOOM+Care would continue to operate under its own brand, however, with a completely separate leadership & Board of Directors. Moreover, the Portland-based healthcare provider would be further focusing upon innovation, expanding access and enhancing the customer experience.

The Executive Vice President of PeaceHealth, Mike Dwyer stated that the company is aiming to be innovative and evolve itself to provide affordable access to healthcare. Dwyer further added that the acquisition would not alter the structure of both firms as they are complimentary to each other.

Reports claim, PeaceHealth decided to go forward with the purchase primarily due to its innovative, technological approach to healthcare along with easy access to the company’s neighborhood clinics. ZOOM’s platform allows patients to use their computer & phones to book same-day appointments at ZOOM clinics and also interact with doctors online.

The Co-Founder & CEO of ZOOM+Care, Dr. Dave Sanders stated that the company believes people are looking to manage their time, schedules & appointments through their phone. Sanders further added that the major reason for the acquisition might be that PeaceHealth saw the potential of ZOOM which is at the forefront to face the change.

Reportedly, while the financial terms of the deal have not been unveiled yet, the acquisition is expected to conclude by December 31.
