Microsoft has introduced a new interactive conference room display called as the ‘Windows Collaboration Displays’ at the Computex 2018 event. Reportedly, the software giant has announced that it will be partnering with other display market players to build its Windows Collaboration Display platform that will target audience from the corporate and entrepreneurial background.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the new platform appears similar to the software giant’s Surface Hub but is “a non-compute peripheral extending the desktop experience to room scale.” In simple words, the new platform will function more efficiently along the lines of larger displays, instead of a standalone unit.
According to reports, the displays include in-built sensors that support Microsoft’s newly introduced Azure Internet of Things scenario. The sensors also have presence detection ability that will let businesses enhance the experience of how a room is cooled or heated, and efficiently control room-booking systems.
Microsoft says the windows collaboration displays are bound to offer best user experience when they are connected to or run by Windows 10 operating systems. The company also revealed that the displays will be a better showcase for Microsoft Whiteboard and will run off of Microsoft 365 – that includes the subscription package of Office 365, Windows 10, and Enterprise Mobility + Security device management software.
If industry experts are to be believed, advancements in technologies such as surface acoustic wave, touchscreens, software drivers, and touch sensors are expected to have a significant impact on the growth prospects of the display market. Forming an integral part of the electronics & media industry, the display market is projected to secure lucrative remuneration through its advanced product portfolio.
Quoting the words of a spokesperson, there will be several screen sizes and low price options which should also make the device appealing to customers from the education sector. However, the company has not yet disclosed any pricing related information.
