Reportedly, both the companies have signed a contract sheet providing a framework for the collaboration. Industry experts expect this partnership to allow customers across myriad industries to rapidly adopt & integrate their products within a short time span. Reports claim that BlackBerry’s trusted suite of safety-certified and secure software solutions like the QNX technology, will enable Tier I suppliers and OEMs to deploy and design sophisticated secure system solutions. The integration of both these major behemoths to develop a huge platform for secure solutions, in all probability, may impact embedded system industry trends, according to experts.
For the record, the Canadian enterprise software maker BlackBerry, has been working for a while now on automotive security encompassing software control, vehicle access, and autonomous driving software that are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. The company, with its automotive embedded systems is providing rich suite of software and hardware components that have been secured against security threats. The increasing adoption of these systems in the new hybrid and electric vehicles will thus chart out a lucrative growth path for the regional embedded system market, as per experts. Reports claim that, a collaboration of this scale is certain to impact the automotive embedded system industry, which accounted for over 22% of the overall revenue share in 2014.
Speaking of the partnership, sources reveal that the global technology and design services provider Tata Elxsi is all set to offer integration and customization services for the following embedded software solutions from BlackBerry: QNX Wireless Framework, QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment, QNX OS for Safety, QNX OS for Medical, QNX Momentics Tool Suite, QNX SDK for Apps and Media, QNX Platform for Acoustics, QNX Neutrino Real-time OS, QNX Platform for ADAS, and QNX Hypervisor.
