Review
I just returned from 5 day backpacking trip to Frontenac Provincial Park in Ontario and it was the 1st time I used the Fly Creek UL2.
So here it goes…
– It’s a super (ULTRA) light and compact tent for a SOLO camper – with lots of room for 1 person (DO NOT buy this tent for 2 people!)! There is absolutely no way 2 people will be comfortable in this tent!! Buy the Copper Spur 3 (My wife and I love that tent – plenty of room and super light weight)
– If you are taller the 5’10” DO NOT buy this tent!!
– Even if you pitch this tent taught (tight fly), the inside will seem saggy (I’m convinced that this is the design for some strange reason – there is nothing you can do to not have slightly saggy walls on the inside – not really a concern for a solo camper).
– The first 3 days of this trip was in full downpour and the tent held up surprisingly well (I was shocked, actually). Absolutely no water got in through the floor or walls. The tent was packed wet so it did get saturated and therefore got wet on the inside and condensation did develop (naturally). When we did have an hour or 2 of clearing and sun it dried out extremely fast.
– It was quick to set up and easy to take down. But did get really dirty from the rain splatter.
– I purchased the Fly Creek UL2 used (but new) on Kijiji and paid about half of the new price. I would NOT have paid full price for this tent (and would have been disappointed if I did).
So if you are looking for an “ULTRA LIGHT” tent for yourself and are under the height of 5’10” and can find it on sale, buy it, if not buy something else.
Pros: Lightweight, Reliable
Cons: Expensive
